Scott could've made an over-complicated horror game, but he didn't. The gameplay may be simple, but with the limitations of Clickteam, the primitive feel mixed in with the gameplay and graphics is what made FNaF stand out, even at the time when the games are still fresh in 2014. I'm not saying the game need to be made in a primitive program like Clickteam to be good, or making it in an advanced engine is a bad idea, it's just what made FNaF stand out was that it battled with what limitations Scott had to deal with he used and the end result was astounding. I'm not knocking on Nikson nor the hard work he put into these games, it's just what bothered me the most is the focus on making the game in a modern engine like Unreal took away what I loved about the FNaF series. I honestly didn't realize there was a split with the game because I was ignoring TJoC, though honestly, I don't have the time for fangames and I was never interested in this one. I feel I should give you a more elaborate opinion since I can't answer all of the polls and doesn't give you too much details on what's the thought process behind the answers.
